During the 89th Legislative session, there has been a significant emphasis on parental rights. Is it time for the district to review student rights?

TxSP has developed a new protocol that addresses student rights in Texas public schools. It is essential to review this information in case a district denies a student’s request for a particular right, as there may be a contradiction between state and federal law. While you are in that filing drawer, be sure to review the rights of students who are 18 years of age or older.

While we are talking student rights, have you ever considered how your campus would handle a student demonstration?

As divided as the country is, what if your students wanted to schedule a protest or a demonstration? Are you prepared?

One of our subscribing districts faced this issue about three or four years ago and followed procedures. A few parents complained to the district about how the campus handled the situation.

A third-party legal  audit was conducted to ensure that all procedures were in line with legal expectations. There were no corrective actions needed. Can you guess the procedures that were followed? Yes, it was the protocol and checklist developed by Texas School Procedures.
