Updated and New Visitor Management Protocols
As we all have felt the tragedy and trauma experienced by Uvalde ISD, TxSP understands that districts all over Texas and the United States are reviewing their protocols and documents to ensure their staff and students are the safest possible. Our staff is in the process of reviewing our protocols, current research, and the School Safety Center information for updating and expanding our safety procedures.
TxSP will be watching all three safety hearings on June 21st, 22nd, and 23rd to listen to questions asked by the committee that might help us understand some of the possible directions the legislators may go in introducing new bills or modifying existing law.
Please watch for our newsletter next week that will provide more safety updates.
TxSP’s updated Visitor Management Section is comprehensive, includes recommendations by various leading safety experts, and provides step-by-step processes to ensure each campus has the tightest procedures to ensure everyone understands their responsibilities.
In the visitor section, we have covered the following procedures:
- Alerts
- Classroom Celebrations
- Classroom Observations
- Visitors During School Hours
- Inappropriate Visitor Behavior
- Large Campus Events
- Lunch with a Student
If we have not covered a procedure that you feel is important for us to add in the visitor management section, please complete a request for a new document and we will add it to our next updates.
