Getting the 2023-24 School Year Started with TxSP Workshops!
- Check out required and best practice trainings available for staff in our training section. Most have been recently updated. Pay particular attention to the session on Abuse Reporting (including the new reporting requirements for school staff) and Bullying and Harassment (including the new standards). Scripts are included which make presentations a snap!
- There are two new trainings for administrators including the 88th Legislative review-Part 1, and required training for administrators on the counseling program. Watch for the Part 2 presentation of legislative updates on Safety in our next newsletter.
- TxSP currently has 8-10 workshop sessions for school counselors.
- Threat to Others for school staff and threat team members should be posted this week.
- Federal Title IX updates should be posted in October, and TxSP will be updating the Title IX protocols, workshops, and documents at that time.
- The Volunteer Training can be provided to volunteers at the district level, or campuses may choose to meet with their volunteers to review such important topics as confidentiality, child abuse and neglect, lines of communication, building positive relations and being a role model, and responding to student behavior. A volunteer handbook is also available.

- Relationship Building
East Central ISD (in San Antonio) recently conducted the TxSP “Building Impactful Relationships With Students” training with their staff members. The attendees enjoyed the collaborative activities and left with new strategies to implement in their classrooms. One participant shared:
“I feel as though not only was the presentation beneficial but hearing from other teachers and their view on building relationships really gave insightful ways of getting to know the students who walk into our classroom.”
