The Guardian Program is a Texas school safety initiative that authorizes carefully selected, specially trained school employees to carry a concealed firearm on campus as a last line of defense in the event of an active threat. Under this state-authorized program, a small number of volunteer staff members may be approved by the board and superintendent to carry a concealed firearm on campus solely to protect students and staff in the event of an active shooter or other imminent deadly threat.

This program requires many components, including board authorization, application, screening and selection, a district plan, an announcement to parents, and accompanying documents, to ensure a tight process for the safety of students and staff.
