HB 547 was passed in the 87th Legislative Session (2021), allowing Districts to choose non-enrolled students (home-school and private school students) to participate in UIL activities, TEC 33.0832. During the 2023-24 school year, 35 Texas independent and charter districts had homeschool participation. One of our subscribing districts has decided to participate in the 2024-25 school year and requested that we write a protocol and prepare any accompanying documents..
See our filing drawer with a new protocol, document/checklist to determine eligibility, and letter to send to parents. Within this filing cabinet are also four filing drawers to support districts with concussion oversight, forms for eligibility and medical, and required safety training.
Celebrating the end of a Three Year Project with an Amazing District!

Thank you district leadership team, counselors, principals and others at East Central ISD! For the past three years, we have had the privilege of working closely with the East Central ISD Counseling Team on the implementation of the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs. Through professional development training, individual coaching, and small group planning, counselors developed data-driven programs to effectively identify student needs and to provide related support. We learned so much from you and applaud your commitment to serving your community!
